Allen Elementary School

DuVaughn Flagler, Assistant Principal

I am excited about the opportunity to work with you all and be a part of the Allen Elementary team this upcoming school year. I have heard a lot of great things about the staff, students, and community. I look forward to getting to know everyone and adding to the great things you all are doing.

I would like for you to get to know me a little bit better before the school year starts. I am from Atlanta, Georgia and I have lived in Amarillo, Texas for the last 8 years. I graduated from Gardner-Webb University located outside of Charlotte, North Carolina with my bachelor’s degree. I obtained my master’s degree from West Texas A&M located in Canyon, Texas. I played football while in college and was a two-time all-American. I also played arena football for a couple of years while in school to get my teaching certification.

When I came to Texas I began substitute teaching with Amarillo ISD. Soon after I took an ISS position which I worked for two years at the high school level. I then moved to the elementary level where I taught 5th grade math, science, social studies and supported reading over the last 5 years.

While teaching my last three years, I took on the role of administrative support. In that role, I was able to head and support various committees. I've even coached 5th grade track. I've helped mentor, subbed for assistant principals, and lead two campuses as a summer school principal.

My passion and purpose is to serve others, and I believe working in the field of education is the most important and rewarding career field. There is no greater joy than helping a student towards reaching their full potential and knowing you played a small part in their development and success. I am excited to meet and work with you all this upcoming school year!
