Anderson Elementary School Celebrates 15 Years of Learning

Sep 02, 2014

Polston, Jackson and KingFrisco ISD’s Anderson Elementary School celebrated its 15th birthday the first week of the 2014-2015 school year.

The school, located at 2800 Oakland Hills Drive in Plano, first opened to students in 1999. The principal was Ladonna Polston and the assistant principal was Betty King.

Both were on hand August 26 alongside current principal Monica Jackson to greet families and welcome students back to class on the first day of school.

In addition, Mrs. Polston joined students, parents and staff on August 29 for the school’s first Good Morning Anderson assembly of the new school year.

Mrs. Polston spoke to students about the importance of believing in themselves and never giving up.

“I just want kids to always remember that they have greatness inside of them and that failure is only failure if you give up and don’t try again,” she said.

Anderson Elementary is named for Naoma and M. Allen Anderson, who were strong supporters of education and played an instrumental role in establishing the Frisco Community Youth Center in the late 1950s.
