Rotary Citizen of the Month PresentationSeveral special guests joined students and staff at Anderson Elementary on Friday, September 26 for the first presentation of the year of Rotary Citizens of the Month.

Each month, Anderson teachers select one student in each class to be recognized for demonstrating positive character traits such as honesty, trustworthiness and more.

Anderson parent Alex Johnson, a member of the Plano Rotary Club, has presented the certificates each month for the last two years.

On September 26, he was joined by Plano Mayor Harry LaRosiliere, Frisco ISD Superintendent Jeremy Lyon and Frisco Mayor Pro Tem Bob Allen, in congratulating the student winners.

Several members of the Frisco Noon Rotary and Frisco Sunrise Rotary were also on hand to explore the idea of duplicating the program at FISD schools in Frisco.

Johnson says this year’s program at Anderson will feature guest appearances by women and minority figures in leadership positions.

LaRosiliere also took the time to invite Anderson students to apply for the Plano Youth Ambassador Program, an effort to encourage youth to love their city, spread the good news about Plano and to participate in selected city events.
