Bright Elementary School

A note from Mrs. Dodson....

H! I’m Serita Dodson and I am so proud to be part of the Bright Community.  I just completed my fifth year as a principal and I absolutely love my role as a lead learner.  I am a local Texas Lady!  I attended school at UNT and TWU.  My teaching experiences include kindergarten, first, second, and third grade.  I absolutely loved my time in the classroom, but wanted to serve in a bigger capacity.  I was incredibly fortunate to move into the assistant principal position at Isbell Elementary in FISD and served in that role for three years.  I then transitioned into the principal role at Isbell.  I am very excited for my next journey and be the Proud Principal at Bright Elementary!  I look forward to serving the community I have fallen in love with.  We will have a great year creating“Brightness”.

A note from Ms. Gasmire....

Hello, Bright Community! I am thrilled to be the Assistant Principal at this wonderful school. I absolutely cannot wait for the exciting journey we have ahead of us, and I am dedicated to getting to know each of you...children, families, teachers, and staff.

I grew up in Plano, and after graduation I proudly attended Baylor University where I received my bachelor's and master's degrees in Education. Sic 'em bears!
I have had the privilege of being in Frisco ISD for all of my eight years in education. I was hired for my first year at Curtsinger in the third grade, and then I taught two years at Smith Elementary in third and fourth grades. When Comstock Elementary opened in 2012, I went over there as a teacher where I was self-contained in fourth grade for three years. After my years of teaching, I had the honor of serving as the Instructional Coach at Norris Elementary from its opening in 2015 until this past year.
I live in Frisco, and I enjoy spending time with my family and my dog, Lily. My parents have some land down in Fredericksburg, Texas, and I enjoy spending time there around a firepit looking up at the stars.  In my free time you might find me running outside, reading books, or enjoying dinner at Mi Cocina!
I have played basketball since I was in 4th grade, and I absolutely love the game! I was a proud shooting guard at Shepton High School and Plano West Senior High School. If you see me out on the Bright basketball court playing with our kids please give me a shout out!

I believe that collectively we have the ability to meet the needs of all of our learners every day, in every situation, and this will be reflected at Bright. I can commit to you that I am going to wake up each morning anticipating the positive results that will stream from hard work, collaboration with others, and dedication to each child’s life. At Bright, we are going to let kids know that we see them and that they are important! I am thrilled to partner with you on this adventure!

A note from Mrs. Payne....

Hello!  My name is Cindy Payne, and I am honored to be the counselor at Bright Elementary.  I am a graduate of The University of Texas at Austin, and I completed my Masters for School Counseling at Southern Methodist University.  This will be my tenth year in education.  I have taught both second and third grade in districts including Clark County in Nevada, Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD, and Frisco ISD.
My husband and I are the proud parents of three very active boys and a Golden Retriever named Cooper.  Our twins, Carson and Mason are fourth graders at Pink Elementary School, and our oldest, Ethan, is a sixth grader at Griffin Middle School.  In my free time, I enjoy watching our boys play sports, traveling, watching movies, and reading.
I am looking forward to a FABULOUS year at Bright, and having the opportunity to be a part of your child’s social, emotional, and academic journey.
