Bright Elementary Hosts Summer Reading Program

Jul 09, 2014

Volunteer Helps StudentVolunteers are making a difference for about 40 elementary students this summer at Bright Elementary.

The Bright Readers’ Summer Fun Club is led by St. Philip’s Episcopal Church and its Bright Zone Ministry, but volunteers include FISD employees, students, individuals and members of other faith-based organizations as well.

The group is meeting on Tuesday and Thursday mornings in June and July to share books and fun activities. A program for pre-school students and their parents is also helping parents build pre-literacy skills at home.

In addition, Frisco Family Services is sponsoring an eight-week summer lunch program at Bright to assist students who qualify for free or reduced lunch during the school year. Children receive nutritious meals and snacks and participate in fun recreational activities.
