Student Wins Arts in the Square Poster Contest

Feb 11, 2015

AITS Poster 2015A graphic design and illustration student from the Frisco ISD Career and Technical Education Center designed the official poster for Arts in the Square, an outdoor fine arts and crafts fair scheduled March 28-29, 2015, in Frisco Square.

The poster created by Centennial High School sophomore Jake Luedecke received the most votes in an online contest conducted by Frisco Square and was named the official event poster. Designs created by fellow CTE graphic design and illustration students Sarah Barney and Kendall Metcalf were named finalists by the 2015 Arts in the Square committee.

Each design had to incorporate the artwork of four winners in the Arts in the Square Poster contest. Each year, a jury selects a winner from artwork submitted by students from across Frisco ISD in each of the four categories: grades K-2, 3-5, 6-8 and 9-12.

This year’s winners include:

  • Ariane Zhang, Gunstream Elementary
  • Faith Song, Curtsinger Elementary
  • Chantel Ndungu, Roach Middle School
  • Andreana Tabacco, Centennial High School

Winners in each category will receive cash awards on Wednesday, March 25 during the Award Ceremony & Opening Reception for Arts in the Square. This free event is hosted by Frisco Arts at the Frisco Art Gallery in the Discovery Center from 6:30 to 8 p.m. All entries will be exhibited at Frisco Arts and the show is free and open to the public from March 3-30, 2015.
