New Trees Planted at FISD Elementary Schools

May 26, 2015

Second graders at Hosp, McSpedden, Newman and Scott elementary schools recently got a lesson about the importance of trees, just in time for Earth Day and Arbor Day.

As in years past, the City of Frisco’s Urban Forestry Board donated trees which were planted at new elementary campuses. Typically, only two trees have been donated, but with four new elementary schools opening this school year, the group expanded the donation to four.

The Forestry Board is dedicated to the promotion, improvement and protection of the urban forest and educates students and the community about the need to protect existing trees and encourage proper selection, planting methods and maintenance of new trees.

The presentation aligns with second grade TEKS regarding the needs and physical characteristics of plants.
