Jun 03, 2014

Teachers Dress Up for Character ParadeStudents and staff at Isbell Elementary School dressed up as their favorite book character on Friday, May 23, parading through the halls and outside the school.

Students in grades K-5 sported elaborate costumes and carried copies of their favorite books as parents and other guests lined the parade route.

The event was part of Children’s Book Week, the annual celebration of children’s books and reading. Established in 1919, it is the longest-running national literacy initiative in the country.

In addition to the book parade, Isbell students also enjoyed "camping out" in the library, reading aloud under tents on the floor.
