Isbell Welcomes 50,000th Frisco ISD Student

Mar 04, 2015

Frisco ISD is marking a significant milestone in our fast growth – enrollment has surpassed 50,000 students.

FISD took the opportunity to celebrate the occasion on February 6 at Isbell Elementary, where the school recently welcomed the District’s 50,000th student.

A second grader named Kylee was lucky number 50,000. She and her mom moved to Frisco from Leander, Texas, to be closer to family.

Superintendent of Schools Dr. Jeremy Lyon and members of the Board of Trustees were on hand at Isbell’s weekly morning assembly to recognize Kylee. Isbell students held signs on stage that read “Welcome!” and “Yay Kylee!”

The group presented Kylee with a basket full of gifts from the District and several community partners. Among the items was $50 gift check from North Dallas Bank & Trust and a T-shirt donated by EmbroidMe emblazoned with the words, “I made history in 2015! 50,000th Student in Frisco ISD.”

Dr. Lyon made a point to thank students, staff and parents at Isbell and across the District for their continued efforts in helping new students and families feel welcome and safe in our schools and community.

Frisco ISD began the school year with 48,900 students and ended last school year with 46,448 students.

The District is consistently ranked among the fastest-growing school districts in the nation, adding about 3,000 new students each year.

FISD celebrated previous milestones in student enrollment in the following years:

10,000: 2002-2003 school year
20,000: 2005-2006 school year
30,000: 2008-2009 school year
40,000: 2011-2012 school year

Despite the phenomenal growth, FISD remains committed to our mission to know every student by name and need.

Kylee will also be honored during the February 9th meeting of the Board of Trustees.
