McSpedden Students Write Lyrics to Songs about Bullying

Nov 18, 2015

Students at McSpedden Elementary accepted a challenge to create a rap, chant or song about bullying prevention as part of the school’s kickoff of the Olweus Bullying Prevention Program (OBPP).

Several classrooms submitted entries into the contest and Ms. Ferrara’s fourth grade class was the winner for the song “Can’t Bully Us.”

The song is set to MC Hammer’s “Can’t Touch This,” with the lyrics written collaboratively by students as part of a writing lesson focusing on revisions and editing. Check out the video below.

Ms. Ferrara’s students won the right to throw pies in the faces of McSpedden teachers Brandon McFarland and Nathan Lambert as their prize.
