Being named Principal of Gene and Ruby Nichols Elementary is truly one of the most exciting events in my life. I am honored to be chosen to lead a school in this exceptional district and community. Adding to the excitement is the opportunity to witness the construction of the new building and being given the chance to be part of an impactful role in so many students’ lives. On March 19, 2012, I was thrilled to take my first hard hat walk-through and felt a sense of anticipation in meeting the future Nichols Elementary students and their families. I had the pleasure of meeting the Nichols family and although Gene and Ruby have passed away, their sense of humility and love for the Frisco community are clearly evident in their three children.
In addition to spending my entire education career in Frisco ISD, I completed my student teaching at Christie Elementary and Borchardt Elementary, during its inaugural year. I quickly realized the extraordinary quality of the Frisco ISD, and I felt privileged to be part of such a talented and caring group of educators.
In college, my most rewarding job was serving as a family’s nanny and discovering my passion for working with children. As a result of this experience, I changed my major, and in May 2002 received my Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies from the University of North Texas.
While finishing my student teaching, I was fortunate to obtain an interview at Borchardt Elementary, and I was hired to teach 5th grade Math and Science. While teaching at Borchardt, I received my Principal’s Certification from Texas A&M-Commerce in May 2006.
In August 2006, I was hired to serve Bert and Eloise Isbell Elementary as Assistant Principal. It was difficult to leave my classroom of students, but I was thrilled to take on my new role as Assistant Principal and the opportunity to impact the entire student body as an administrator. After my three years as Isbell’s Assistant Principal, I served as the Assistant Principal at Ruth Borchardt Elementary. I spent two more years with the Borchardt Family before I joined Calvin Bledsoe Elementary as Assistant Principal. My time serving with Mrs. Woodson, and the Bledsoe community, was an incredible experience that enriched my career in countless ways.
