RoughRiders Foundation Honors Teachers of the Month

Jun 16, 2015

The Frisco RoughRiders Foundation continues to give back to Frisco ISD and the Frisco Education Foundation, as it honors FISD teachers for their contributions to the community.

The RoughRiders Foundation established the FISD Teacher Recognition program in 2008 to recognize outstanding Frisco school teachers for their dedication and work on behalf of Frisco’s students and general community. One teacher is recognized each month during the RoughRiders season.

Kelly Lathrop, special education teacher at Nichols Elementary, was honored as the May Teacher of the Month. She was nominated by Frisco ISD In-Home/Parent Trainer Kimberly Goushey, who cited her positive attitude, sincere concern for others and efforts that stretch well beyond the boundaries of the classroom.

Angie Jenkins, special education teacher at Scott Elementary, was honored as the June Teacher of the Month. She was nominated by parent Colette McCadden, who described Jenkins’ love, compassion and patience towards students, as well as her volunteer efforts with Hope Park and the Miracle League.

Both were awarded with a check for $500 in their name that will be split between their school and the Frisco Education Foundation.

In addition, each received “VIP Treatment” at the Ballpark, including four tickets with Founders Club access (including free parking, food and beverages) as well as a private tour of the ballpark before the game.
