Phillips Elementary School

Dear Phillips Families,

Welcome to the 2017-2018 school year! I would like to share a little information about me and about our wonderful school. My husband Gene and I have been married for 28 years, and we have two children. My son Justin is a reading teacher in Frisco ISD and my daughter Rani is a reading teacher in Nacogdoches ISD. We have a cute Bichon-Poodle named Roxie who is now serving as our substitute child since Gene and I are empty-nesting!

I was a teacher at Fisher Elementary for four years, served as an assistant principal at Spears Elementary for three years, and opened Phillips Elementary as the principal in 2012. Learning is at the heart of everything we do at Phillips, and my job is to be a lead learner. I am expanding my ability to serve our students, staff, and families by pursuing a doctorate in Educational Leadership at the University of North Texas.

As we enter our sixth year at Phillips, I am awed by what teachers can accomplish and admire the dedication they have to their craft and to our students. Our whole staff is committed to kids and their families. Our Phillips staff and parents work together in inspiring ways to build up our school.

My hope is that all students feel our school is a creative and exciting environment that motivates them to learn at higher levels. This year we continue our focus on performing as a highly effective professional learning community focused on each student’s academic and social-emotional needs. As a real team, students, parents, and educators will all learn together. We will share our creativity and excitement to establish an ever-more rigorous and rich learning environment!

With admiration and appreciation,

Dana Solomon
