Gerald Sonntag’s family members were early pioneers in the area. A graduate of Frisco High and North Texas State, he taught Biology in Davenport, Texas, for a couple of years before returning with his wife to farm in Frisco and raise five daughters. He also ran the Co-op Gin for several years and served on the School Board. During World War II years it was difficult to find men to fill the jobs of teachers/coaches, and Mr. Sonntag volunteered to coach the high school football team that went on to win the Bi-District Championship. An advocate of education and sports for all youth, his popularity and respect among students was immeasurable and his impact great.
