Sparks Elementary Teacher Honored by 97.5 KLAK

Feb 01, 2016

Sparks Elementary fifth grade teacher Michele Weeks was named 97.5 KLAK Teacher of the Month in January and was featured in an on-air radio interview.

Weeks was nominated for the honor by fellow teacher and colleague Laura Barr, who praised her co-worker for helping and inspiring all those around her.

“Michele goes above and beyond day in and day out for her students,” Barr wrote. “She makes it a point to get to know each and every one of her students. Michele knows that making connections and taking true interest in her students will help her gain each child’s trust. They want to work hard for Mrs. Weeks and will jump through hoops to do so. She continuously works on becoming a better teacher and tries her very best to make learning fun and engaging for her students.”

Weeks won $500 and is now a finalist for KLAK’s Teacher of the Year.

The program recognizes teachers who stand out from their peers in areas such as promoting positive student relations, teaching, increasing student achievement, community involvement, and/or inspiring others.

Educators, parents and students are invited to nominate other FISD teachers. Just head to the 97.5 KLAK website and fill out a few quick questions.
