Carlos Liscano is a veteran of the Vietnam War. He served with the Army 101st Airborne Division for a year and honorably discharged in September of 1968.
He served as Post Commander of VFW Post 8273 for 12 years. During the early 90s, Liscano approached the Frisco Garden Club about working with the VFW to host a Memorial Day Event . Today, the annual program is a Frisco tradition supported by many groups.
He is also a former president of the Frisco Lions Club and was Frisco Style’s Person of the Year 2012. In 1999 Carlos was presented the Golden Eagle Award from the Frisco Chamber of Commerce “In recognition of his dedication and service to the citizens and the community of Frisco, Texas.”
He and his wife Yolanda “Yoly” have four daughters, all of whom graduated from Frisco High School. In 1978 they adopted Yoly’s brother Gilbert and raised him as their own son. He graduated from Frisco High School as well, and served in the Army and Desert Storm.
Liscano is a proponent of all students finishing high school and pursuing further education through college, job training or the military. Liscano devoted much of his adult working life assisting FISD leaders to help young people in need stay in school. Liscano and fellow school namesake Rick Reedy mentored and helped many students dealing with financial hardship find work yet finish high school.
