FISD Hosts ISM Research Showcase at The Star

Jan 19, 2018

High school juniors and seniors taking the Independent Study and Mentorship (ISM) course presented research Wednesday on a topic or career field of their choice.

The ISM program pairs top students with business and community mentors who help them gain real-world knowledge and experience.

The annual Winter Research Showcase provides an opportunity for the public to learn about the ISM program and the incredible opportunities available to FISD students, thanks to volunteers who lend their time and expertise to help students explore their career interests.

Students have spent the first semester interviewing professionals and selecting a mentor to learn more about their chosen career field. Each student will work closely with his or her mentor in the second semester to continue building a research portfolio and develop an original product, which will be presented in May.

This year’s research showcase was held January 17 at the Ford Center at The Star, through the support of the Gene and Jerry Jones Family Foundation.
