Frisco High Coach Honored as State Tennis Coach of the Year

Jan 12, 2016

Frisco High School Head Tennis Coach Brian Woods was named the 5A State Coach of the Year in December by the Texas Tennis Coaches Association (TTCA).

He was recognized at the TTCA annual convention and is pictured here with USC Men’s Tennis Coach Peter Smith.

The honor recognizes coaches who build their program while instilling good sportsmanship, love of the game, respect for authority, opponents, rules and self.

The FHS team tennis team finished second this past fall at regionals, just missing the state tournament. It was the highest finish for any Frisco ISD tennis team in UIL 5A Team Tennis.

Coach Sam Rodriquez of Reedy High School was also named Region Coach of the Year.
