STAAR End-of-Course (EOC) testing information for Algebra I STAAR/EOC – May 3 (B Day) & Biology & US History STAAR/EOC – May 4 (A Day)

Test Security:
  Cell phones / electronic devices
Please remind your student to leave his/her cell phone, tablet, camera, and other electronic devices in their locker or car on their test day(s).  Aside from the items being forbidden in the testing room, it is very time consuming to collect and return these items. Students who are found to be in possession of any devices at any time during testing will be subject to disciplinary action and their tests will not be scored. In addition, students should not take purses, bags, or other personal items into to the test room.  Students are encouraged to see their Algebra I, Biology or US History teacher if they have forgotten their locker combination.

Pencils and bottled water:
Students should bring two sharpened #2 pencils to their testing room. (Please note that mechanical pencils are not allowed, per state STAAR regulations.)  Students may bring a closed bottle of water to the testing room, which they will be advised to keep on the floor to avoid damaging their testing documents.

 Late Arrival Schedule on Tuesday, May 4th:
Students who are testing in the Biology EOC or US History EOC will need to report to their testing room by 9:00 am, at the latest.  Testing will start promptly at 9:00 am.

Students who are NOT testing in either STAAR EOC or in this day’s AP national exams should arrive at 12:00 noon in order to attend their 3rd period class at 12:22pm.

FHS students that have classes at the CTE Center will be made aware of their class and bus schedule for May 4 by their respective CTE teachers.

 Late Arrival Bus Transportation on Tuesday, May 4th (for bus-eligible students):

There will be two (2) morning transportation pick-up times for Tuesday, May 4:

  • Busses will run at the normal times for students who will be taking the EOC exams.
  • A second bus route will run later in the morning to provide transportation to FHS for bus-eligible students who are not testing on May 4th.The second bus route schedule for non-test takers will be posted at the school and on the website once the information becomes available, listing the bus numbers, pick-up locations, and times.
  • Bus drivers have notified students of this schedule.

 Other notes:

  • Encourage your student to get a good night’s sleep and eat a nutritious breakfast prior to each test.
  • Encourage your student to see their Algebra; Biology or US History teacher if they have forgotten their locker combination.
  • Encourage your student to arrive to school promptly to ensure they get started on time.
  • Please contact your child’s counselor with any specific questions or concerns.
  • Sack lunches are NOT required for the May EOC exams, whereas the Algebra I, Biology and US History EOC exams are 4-hours, compared to the longer 5-hour English EOC exams.
  • Please keep these testing schedules in mind when scheduling personal appointments for your child.
