Independence Students Donate Spirit Wear from Previous Schools

T-Shirt DeliveryFrisco ISD’s Independence High School isn’t even open yet – and already, students and staff are giving back to the community.

Assistant Principal Stephany Sipes and incoming junior Jackie Kuwitzky, a member of the school’s StuCo community service committee, hand-delivered hundreds of T-shirts to Frisco Family Services on August 13.

The T-shirts were donated this spring by Independence students who previously attended Centennial, Heritage or Liberty high schools or Maus, Roach, Scoggins, Vandeventer or Wester middle schools.

Students donated a spirit T-shirt from one of those schools in exchange for a free Independence T-shirt in an effort to build campus community among students coming from several different campuses.

“It’s exciting that we get to start from scratch and make all the school traditions,” Kuwitzky said. “It’s great to see these T-shirts go to good use and support the community.”

The spirit wear is now for sale at Frisco Resale, 9125 Dogwood Street in Frisco, to benefit needy families in Frisco and Frisco ISD.
