IHS Video Highlights Frisco ISD’s Small Schools Philosophy

Oct 13, 2015

At Independence High School, students and staff wear T-shirts that read “This is Home.”

“I think the building just emphasizes how much this is our home from when you step in as a freshman to when you graduate as a senior,” said student Preston Campbell. “I think having a home feel at Independence is really key in having a successful education.”

Campbell’s comments are part of a video produced by Corgan, the architectural firm that designed Independence High School.

It features interviews with several students and staff members who describe the school’s campus culture and sense of community.

It was filmed last school year, the first for Independence, which opened to students for the first time in August 2014.

The video highlights the design of the new school and how it reflects a focus on personal relationships, student opportunity and community engagement – key features of all Frisco ISD schools.

Corgan featured the video earlier this month at the joint Texas Association of School Administrators (TASA) and Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) convention in Austin.
