Energy-Conscious Students at LTHS Honored by Rotary

Five freshmen from Lebanon Trail High School were special guests of the Frisco Rotary Club on January 12.

The Rotary group meets at noon each Thursday at Toyota Stadium and traditionally spotlights seniors who have long high school histories of service, academic excellence and extracurricular activities.

LTHS opened this year with freshmen only, so campus leaders brought five top students who participated in ”Watts Up Frisco!,” an energy-savings project that was part of the Lexus Eco Challenge. The students led a movement for FISD teachers and administrators to turn off lights and equipment (as possible) and observe Half Watt Wednesday on December 7.

The Rotary January 2017 Spotlight Students of the Month include:

Wail Aldahri, son of Mohammad Aldahri and Lama Zeytter, is in National Junior Honor Society, HOSA (Future Health Professionals), the school math and science team and Academic Decathlon. He does animation tutoring and is a student volunteer. He is considering majoring in the sciences, genetic engineering and patho-physiology.

Kylie Mannan is the daughter to Steve and Terri Mannan. She is in National Junior Honor Society as the social officer and serves as editor of the yearbook. She is also active in the photography club, the multicultural awareness club, and the school book club. She is in orchestra and also plays piano. She is a peer tutor and is considering the performing arts or music as her college major.

Abigail Love is the daughter of Chad and Daniel Love. She is a member of National Junior Honor Society, the LTHS book club, and is a clarinet section leader in the band.  She is a tutor for sixth grade students and volunteers at her church. She says she wants to teach high school and to someday work for Frisco ISD.

Avery Sinnathamby, daughter of Palani and Karin Sinnathamby, is founder and president of the LTHS multicultural culinary club. She is also a member of the FISD Superintendents Advisory Council, serves as secretary of National Junior Honor Society and is president of the Student Council. She is vice president of the LTHS band. She is a math tutor and volunteers at the LTHS concession stands and Toys4Tots. She plans to be a veterinarian.

Arvind Subramanian is the son of Subramanian Krishnamurthy and Banu Subramanian.  He is active in band, Student Council, National Junior Honor Society and the Jazz Band. He serves as Student Council president, section leader and band captain. He also volunteers at the concession stand and is a volunteer for the Angel Tree Service Project. He plans to major in the health sciences.
