Liberty High School Takes Fifth Place in State Orchestra Competition

Liberty High School Camerata Orchestra 2014Congratulations to the Liberty High School Camerata Orchestra, which placed fifth in the state of Texas in the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) Honor String Orchestra Competition.

It is the highest ever finish by a Frisco ISD orchestra in the contest, which honors quality musicianship in the performance of advanced literature at the highest level.

Each year, the best and strongest orchestras from across the state submit anonymous recordings to be reviewed by a panel of judges.

The recordings are reviewed over two days, with the top finalists chosen in the initial round of competition and then ranked again in another round of judging the following day.

Liberty placed in the top nine orchestras after the first round of judging and fifth after the final round. 

The students’ recording was submitted after only six weeks of instruction under new director Julie Blackstock.
