Liberty Wrestling is State Runner-Up in Dual Tournament

Jan 20, 2015

Wrestlers from Frisco ISD’s Centennial and Liberty high schools claimed top spots in the 5A Texas High School Wrestling Coaches Association State Dual Tournament, held January 10, 2015, at Wakeland High School.

The 16 best 5A teams from across the state qualified for the tournament, including four teams from each of the four regions.

The event is not affiliated with the UIL – but is considered a state championship. At the UIL state meet, wrestlers are put into brackets by weight class and earn team points as they compete for individual titles. The dual meet features team matchups from start to finish.

Centennial and Liberty advanced to face each other for the state title, with the outcome decided in the very last match.

Congratulations to both teams – Centennial, the back-to-back state dual champion, and Liberty, the state runner-up – for their success!
