Student Art Featured in Dallas is Diversity Calendar

Feb 10, 2015

FISD students have had their art selected for the annual Dallas is Diversity Calendar. Their work will be displayed at the Crowne Plaza Hotel near the Galleria during the Dallas Cup XXXVI, March 29 though April 5.

Thousands of fifth through twelfth graders from several school districts submit artwork for the contest each year. Students illustrate their ideas of how soccer promotes diversity with the calendar featuring holidays celebrated throughout the world.

Of the students with art selected, the work of Alicia Yu of Frisco High School will represent the month of December. Yu is also one of five students from the Dallas area selected to receive a monetary scholarship.

Other calendar winners from FISD include: Abigail Wroten of Liberty High School (January); Amilia Weiss of Griffin Middle School (June); Lorena Diosdacio of Frisco High School (September); April Nguyen of Curtsinger Elementary (November) and Desiree Ybarra of Shawnee Trail Elementary School (the back cover of the calendar).

The art teachers for each of the pieces of art work selected will receive funds as well to assist with the purchase of art supplies.
