Graphic Student's Work to be exchanged around the World

Dec 15, 2015

The Rotary Club of Frisco approached the Graphic Design and Illustration program at the Frisco ISD Career and Technical Education this fall and asked if they had some students who would be willing to redesign the Rotary Club's flag. Dianna Bacon who teaches the Advanced graphic design sections decided to turn the proposal into a class project since the Rotary Club does so much to give back to the students in FISD.

Each Advanced graphic student designed a flag to showcase the beautiful community in which we live and service. The Rotary provided photographs for the students to use that included key images in the city.

The three finalists selected were Lindsey Morrison (CHS senior), Emily Sontheimer (LHS junior) and Nicole Williams (CHS Senior).  After the finalist selection, some revisions were made to each design, and then the Rotary Club sent all three flags to their members for a vote.  The winning design was Lindsey Morrison's flag, shown right.

Exchanging club banners is a pleasant custom, especially when a creative and artistic banner tells an interesting story of community pride. The exchange of banners is a significant tradition of Rotary and serves as tangible symbol of our international fellowship. This tradition dates back to 1959.
