Lone Star Students Honored for Academics and Public Service

Skylar Elmore and Josh Moore, both students at Lone Star High School, were recognized this month at a meeting of the Rotarians who meet at noon Dave and Buster's Restaurant in Frisco.

The Rotary Club has traditionally honored high school students from throughout Frisco who excel in academics and in public service.


Elmore is the daughter of Ronnie and Brenda Elmore. She is captain of the cross country team, a cheer captain and a leader in Fellowship of Christian Athletes. She is also active in active in theatre, basketball, cross country, track, cheerleading, NHS, ASL Honor Society, Rachel's Challenge, and Student Council.

Her honors include the HOBY Leadership Award, LSHS Strength Star Award, Cheer Spirit awards; she is also a cross country district and regional qualifier.

Her volunteer work includes FCA camp, Mane Gait and the SPCA. She has also worked at the Frisco ISD summer school program.

Elmore plans to attend Tarleton State University and study pre-veterinary medicine.

Moore is the son of Duane and Cassy Moore. He is a football captain, Fellowship of Christian Athletes captain, and the senior class president. In addition to football and FCA, he is active in wrestling and National Honor Society. He has a silver star in football. Other honors include the LSHS Stewardship Award and the Military Order of World Wars Camp award. 

He is a manager at the Coney Shop, volunteers at his church, and hopes to attend either McMurry or University of North Texas. He wants to study business management and music and perhaps attend seminary.
