FISD Student Works Chosen for Diversity Calendar

Mar 16, 2016

Each fall more than 21,000 fifth through twelfth graders from the Dallas, Frisco, Garland, Richardson, and Mesquite school districts participate in the Dallas is Diversity Calendar Artwork Project.

Students illustrate their ideas of how soccer promotes diversity with the calendar featuring holidays celebrated throughout the world. Thirteen pieces of artwork are selected, one for the cover of the calendar and one for each month of the year.

Along with the publishing of their artwork, five students are chosen to receive scholarships for their outstanding talent and their vision of “How soccer brings the World together.” The art teachers of the selected students each receive $200 to assist with the purchase of art supplies.

“Dallas is Diversity” calendars are printed every year and distributed to the schools in each of the five school districts. Calendars are also mailed to friends of Dallas Cup and sponsors.

This year, several Frisco ISD students had artwork chosen for the calendar. Taylor Patterson of Liberty High School and Fiona Lai of Riddle Elementary School were among the scholarship winners, each receiving $500.

Congratulations to all students who had artwork chosen for the 2016 calendar:
