Reedy Band Director Named Outstanding Young Bandmaster

Levi ChavisLevi Chavis, the director of bands at Frisco ISD’s Reedy High School which opens in August 2015, was named Outstanding Young Bandmaster by Phi Beta Mu at the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) Convention in February.

Outstanding Young Bandmaster is awarded to a band director in Texas who has taught for 10 years or less and has demonstrated exceptional success in their young career.

Chavis comes to Frisco ISD from Ronald Reagan High School in North East ISD (San Antonio) where he has been since 2009. 

Prior to that, Chavis taught at Hebron High School (Lewisville ISD), Ronald Reagan High School (North East ISD) and Elkins High School (Elkins ISD) as an assistant band director. 

In addition to public school teaching, Chavis was a member of the Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps both as a member of the brass staff and currently serves as the assistant visual caption manager for the Santa Clara Vanguard Drum and Bugle Corps. 

Chavis holds a Bachelor of Music Education degree from the University of Houston.
