Athletics Info for Rising Cobb Middle School 7th and 8th Graders

Apr 14, 2016

Hello Cyclone Athletic parents!

I cannot believe that we are preparing for next school year already!  I am sending out an email to let you know about many important events that we have scheduled for incoming 7th and 8th graders in the 2016-2017 school year.  This email will have applicable information for all athletics (volleyball, football, basketball, cross country, track, and soccer) at Cobb including Tennis and Cheerleading.  If your student will not participate in any of these activities, you may disregard this email.

Athletic Physicals—All sports at Cobb require an athletic physical.  This includes Tennis and Cheerleading.  Click here for the pre-physical form  that you will need to take to your doctor.  The date on the physical must be May 1st or later. We will be collecting these at our parent meeting on May17th at 5:00 pm.  You can also get a physical done for fairly cheap at many minute clinic type places.  In order to participate in an athletic activity you must pass this physical and turn it in before beginning practice or on the first day of school.

Strength and Conditioning Camp—We have already been getting inquiries about our summer Strength and Conditioning camp.  The camp will run from June 20th to July 28th.  It will be Monday-Thursday only.  The 7th grade session (Session 1) will begin at 7:00 a.m. and run through 9:00 a.m.  The 8th grade session (Session 2) will begin at 9:00 a.m. and run through 11:00 a.m.  Click here for instructions on signing up for camp.  The price is a very good deal for a 6 week camp; however, if money is an issue please contact youngja@friscoisd.org for our scholarship information.  It is our goal that money is not the reason for a student not to be able to attend camp.

NEW TO ATHLETICS PARENT MEETING—Finally, we want to pass on a date for you to get on your calendar.  On May 17th at 5:00pm in the Cobb café, parents and students that will be new to Cobb athletics (mostly incoming 7th graders) will need to attend our Athletics Parent meeting.  This meeting will go over the athletic expectations for the 2016-17 school year, as well as supply you with many logistical items that will help your student’s athletic experience here at Cobb run smoothly.  You will also have the opportunity to ask some questions of the our athletic coordinators after the meeting.  Also as previously mentioned, this would be a wonderful time to bring your completed Physical Form to turn in! =)

We look forward to seeing you soon!
