Welcome back to Griffin!! It is hard to believe the first six weeks is already behind us! Your counselors, Mrs. Jones-Belt & Mrs. Renegar, have been busy making plans for a great school year. During the first six weeks, students participated in guidance lessons about Bullying Prevention, David’s Law, the Stop-It App, Suicide Prevention, and Goal Setting. Students did a great job and learned a lot of important information they can use all year!

There are several upcoming events we want to make you aware of:

October 23-26: Red Ribbon Week (details coming soon!)

October 26: Red Ribbon Week Speaker – Tory Gant (all grades)

December 3rd: 8th Grade meet with Wakeland/Lone Star Counselors to discuss 4 Year HS Plans

This year GMS will be hosting a Career Day for our eighth grade students on Monday, December 3rd! Please help us make this year’s Career Day a success by volunteering your time. We are looking for individuals willing to share their exciting careers. There will be a light breakfast at 7:45 am and then five from 9:00-12:15pm. Speakers will be selected on a first come, first served and an as needed basis so that we may represent as many different career fields as possible. Please contact our Counselors if you are interested in participating. Thank you!

Each six weeks, the district and GMS will focus on one character trait. The character focus for this six weeks is PURPOSE. Please see below to learn more about PURPOSE.

We look forward to continuing to work with your student and having a wonderful school year!

Your Counselors,

Mrs. Jones-Belt & Mrs. Renegar
