FISD Plans to Launch International Baccalaureate (IB) at Frisco High School

Mar 06, 2018

Frisco ISD hopes to bring the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme to Frisco High School starting in the 2021-22 school year.

All interested high school students in the Class of 2023 and beyond would be eligible to seek admission into the programme, if the District’s candidacy application and request for authorization are approved.

The Diploma Programme consists of multiple academically challenging courses designed to broaden students’ educational experience and challenge them to apply their knowledge and skills. The mission of IB is to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect.

In November 2018, eighth graders from across Frisco ISD will be invited to submit a commitment form to express interest in participating in the IB Diploma Programme at FHS. Students will be randomly selected for enrollment using a lottery process based on the number of seats available.

Students who accept admission will become Frisco High School students beginning in the 2019-20 school year. The first IB courses would be offered when students are juniors in the 2021-22 school year. Diploma Programme students would be encouraged to take Advanced Placement (AP) and other rigorous coursework during their freshman and sophomore years.

Parent and student informational meetings will be held in October 2018 to provide more details about the programme and admissions process. In the meantime, check out the list of Frequently Asked Questions.
