Principal - Mitzi Garner
Mitzi Garner is excited to begin her 17th year in education as the principal of Nelson Middle School! Mitzi comes to us from Trent Middle School where she served as Assistant Principal and was instrumental in opening that campus. In addition, she served as Assistant Principal at Wester Middle School. Prior to coming to Frisco ISD she served as an Assistant Principal at McKinney North High School and was the Secondary Math Coordinator in McKinney ISD. Preceding her administrative experience, Mitzi taught 6th-8th grade mathematics in both McKinney and Los Angeles. Mrs. Garner is a graduate of San Diego State University and received her Master’s in Curriculum and Instruction from Dominguez Hills University and a Master’s in Educational Leadership from Concordia University. When she isn’t serving as principal, Mrs. Garner loves to spend time with her husband and two children. She mentors young women in the North Dallas area and loves to stay physically active.

Assistant Principal - Cari Owens
I am thrilled to join the Nelson Middle school community. My professional story has been lived out in both Louisiana and Texas school districts. I am proud to be an alumnus of some amazing universities:University of Louisiana, Louisiana State University and Concordia University. On the personal side, my husband Dan and I have been married since 1993 and have three precious children: Kathleen, 20; Madeline, 17; and Austin, 14. In my spare time, I enjoy running, yoga and just about anything outside. I can hardly wait to get to know each of you and to serve this amazing community!

Assistant Principal - Chris Miller

Chris Miller is excited to bring his energy to Nelson Middle School. Mr. Miller has been a middle school assistant principal for the last two years in Lewisville ISD. Prior to Lewisville, he spent 16 years in Highland Park Middle School as science teacher, coach, and an athletic coordinator. Mr. Miller began his career as a high school teacher at Bryan Adams High School in Dallas ISD. A lifelong learner, Mr. Miller will be completing his Doctorate of Education next spring from Dallas Baptist University in Educational Leadership. Mr. Miller enjoys spending his spare time with his wife, Amy and children, Alena (8) and Cash (6).
