School Board Approves Attendance Zone for Pearson Middle School

Dec 11, 2014

Dear parents,

At the regular meeting of the FISD Board of Trustees held on Monday, December 8, members approved a zone for Pearson Middle School, located at 2323 Stonebrook Pkwy., Frisco, Texas 75034, which is scheduled to open in the 2015-2016 school year.

Click here to view the approved zone.

The zones for Pearson, Pioneer Heritage and Hunt Middle School will keep elementary schools intact in regard to their feeder middle school. With the opening of Reedy High School in 2015 with grades 9-10, Pearson students will attend Reedy, along with most of Pioneer Heritage. The neighborhoods of Village Lakes, The Canals at Grand Park, Park Place Estates, Diamond Point Estates and future Park West will continue to attend and be zoned for Frisco High. (Except for a one-time declaration opportunity for next year’s 9th and 10th graders living in Village Lakes and Park Place Estates. They will be able to choose to attend Reedy through graduation. Growth in these neighborhoods will be monitored for impact and to determine when this time for declaration will need to be closed.) All of Hunt, including Lebanon Ridge Apartments, will continue to attend Frisco High School.

You may visit the FISD website at www.friscoisd.org for more detailed neighborhood maps, along with other rezoning information. The principal for Pearson Middle School will be named in February/March and will begin communicating with families following that announcement.  Karen Lecocq is the principal of Reedy High School. Her contact information is 469-633-6401 and lecocqk@friscoisd.org

Note: With the opening of two middle schools in 2015, the District will not be accepting transfer applications to stay at the existing middle schools receiving relief, in this case, Pioneer Heritage. The ability to staff appropriately and to develop programs at the new schools is impaired greatly in a year when multiple secondary schools are opening and teachers are transferring due to decreased enrollments at existing schools.
