Jan 27, 2015

PHMS Lexus Eco ChallengeA group of five seventh graders from Pioneer Heritage Middle School won $10,000 in grants and scholarships as part of the Lexus Eco Challenge, a STEM contest for students in grades 6-12 built on environmental issues and practical solutions.

The students, including Arjun Nair, Jackson Young, Jaden Mendez, Rishab Krishnan and Sam Kulkarni, focused their efforts on 3D printing and how it can reduce your carbon footprint.

The group built a website featuring 3D files and aim to create a YouTube video with how-to instructions for printing a prosthetic arm, so anyone who isn't a doctor or engineer can help people in their village.

You can learn more about their efforts by watching this video or visit their website at

The team’s sponsor is Taylor Davis, sixth grade science teacher at Pioneer Heritage. Join us in wishing the group luck as they advance to nationals and try to bring home another $30,000 in scholarships and grants!
