Scoggins Principal Honored in Washington, D.C.

ms_scoggins_warnerdcScoggins Middle School Principal Barbara Warner participated in the National Association of Secondary Schools Principals (NASSP) Principal of the Year Institute in Washington, D.C. September 7-10.

She was honored along with other Middle School and High School Principals of the Year from across the country during an evening reception and a recognition luncheon. The group also participated in a professional development and networking exchange, designed to allow them to share ideas and increase their knowledge and skills as secondary school principals.

Warner was named Texas Middle School Principal of the Year in December 2013 by the Texas Association of Secondary School Principals (TASSP). The award recognizes exemplary performance and outstanding leadership. She was selected after being honored by her peers as Principal of the Year for Region 10, one of twenty Education Service Centers from across the state.

During her visit to the nation’s capital, Warner and the Texas High School Principal of the Year, Cissy Perez from Corpus Christi ISD, visited Capitol Hill and met with Congressmen Blake Farenthold and Sam Johnson, as well as Senators Ted Cruz and John Cornyn, to advocate for legislation aimed at improving education programs in the United States.
