Scoggins and Hunt Raise Nearly $30,000 for City House

May 07, 2015

Scoggins and Hunt middle schools recently combined forces to raise nearly $30,000 to support City House’s programs for homeless youth.

City House is dedicated to providing homeless children and teens in North Texas with emergency shelter and transitional residential services.

Both schools participated in a six-hour Frisco-Thon in which students collected donations for the participation in the event, per hour, or through a flat donation.

The event at Scoggins featured numerous activities including open gym, dances, improv and theatre games, a faculty/student basketball game and more. There were several guest speakers including McKinney Mayor Bryan Loughmiller, Superintendent of Schools Lyon, Texas Legends Vice President Del Harris and others.

Scoggins and Hunt also engaged in a friendly competition to see who could raise the most money, with a bet between principals – the losing school’s principal had to wear the winning school’s mascot costume for a day.

Scoggins raised approximately $13,000, and Hunt raised approximately $16,000, so Scoggins Principal Barbara Warner had to wear the Harley the Husky costume.
