Secondary Summer School Work Must Be Complete by July 24

Jun 07, 2018

Online learning opportunities are available this summer for registered students entering grades 9-12 taking courses for credit recovery or advancement, as well as remediation in math, English, science and social studies for students entering grades 7-9.

The online structure for secondary summer school provides greater flexibility and allows students to work at their own pace, with more control and responsibility over their own learning. Students can work from home, or may benefit from visiting one of the two summer school locations for assistance or dedicated study time.

Coursework can be completed anytime, anywhere there is Internet access, though students must take exams on-site at either Independence or Wakeland high schools during summer school hours. Pre-assessments must also be completed in-person by students taking courses for credit recovery or remediation.

Teachers will be available at both campuses on set dates and times to assist students who are taking courses for credit recovery. Students taking courses for advancement can take advantage of FISD computer labs during summer school hours, and an online form will be available to assist with questions and provide subject-specific support.

Students will have 24/7 access to online courses from June 12 to July 19, 2018. Students can take final exams any time during summer school hours once they have finished the coursework, but exams must be completed by Tuesday, July 24 at 12 p.m.

The last day to register for secondary summer school was June 7. Click here to learn more about secondary summer school.
