Four Staley Students to Perform with North Texas Children's Choir at Meyerson

Jan 29, 2015

On Saturday, January 31, four sixth grade students from Staley Middle School will join with more than 200 elementary and middle school students to sing in the 19th Annual North Texas Children’s Choir concert. The concert will be held in the world renowned Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center in Dallas.

Principal Dennis McDonald says he is very proud of these four women and their teacher, Albertina Clayton. Without the training and support of the FISD choir program, these young women would not be having the experience of performing in this great venue, he said.

The Staley students who will have this opportunity are: Brionna Delatorre, Andrea Teran, Tytiyana Denby, and Caroline Dozier.

“It is my desire to help children express a passion and joy for choral music,” says NTCC artistic and executive director Ann Smith. “I also want to help each child develop not only as an extraordinary singer, but as a leader in our schools and communities through their experience in the North Texas Children’s Choir.”

Founded in 1995, the North Texas Children’s Choir aims to provide a unique, enriching musical experience for children outside the traditional choral music classroom. The NTCC is made up of 240 children from 20 North Texas schools, who have been auditioned by their elementary and middle school choir directors. The choir performs annually on the last Saturday in January with over 1000 people in attendance.
