Shawn Perry | Principal

It is an honor to be the Principal of Dr. Daryl Trent Middle School, and it serves as one of the most significant and exciting events in my professional career. Professionally, I am currently in my eighteenth year in education.  My education includes a Bachelor of Science with a minor in Political Science from Midwestern State University and a Master’s Degree in Education Administration from the University of North Texas; currently, I am working on my dissertation for my Doctoral in Education Administration at Texas A&M University-Commerce.  During my professional career as an educator, I have served in a wide range of positions, from special education to athletic coordination to campus administration, including my current role as principal of the Wolf PACK.   I have experience at every level of education, which has been instrumental in developing my philosophy for student readiness and character of students of all age groups.  Outside of school, I enjoy gardening, playing in the outdoors, and spending time with my wife, Sarah and our two children.  Sarah is a counselor in our great district, and our children are benefactors of the incredible education that Frisco ISD has to offer.

Just a glimpse of the my philosophy:  A climate where educators promote students to advocate for themselves is paramount to creating an environment of successful learning.  Zhao (2012) stated, “Only when children learn what they want to learn and begin to take the responsibility for learning and living can they stay truly engaged”.  At Trent, we want students to live by our student mission statement, “I define myself by my efforts not my results.  When my effort is there, my results will come.”  Middle school years are critical in establishing the habits and efforts needed to be autonomous lifelong learners.  In order to have the greatest impact, we strive to capitalize on life lessons.  Learning from mistakes and maximizing effort allows the opportunity for students to make adjustments, and take responsibility for themselves.  Some of the greatest lessons I learned in my life were from the natural consequences I received from my choices.  I don’t want to deprive our Wolf PACK of an opportunity for growth through their effort.  As a community, we can ensure an atmosphere that will be conducive to our Wolves’ success.  By observing  the PACK values of Purpose, Attitude, Commitment, and Kindness your student will experience tremendous growth both academically and social emotionally.   Stay tuned to your e-mail for more information in the coming months.  If you have concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

Tracee Wysinger | Assistant Principal
7th Grade I-Z and 8th Grade
Wysingert@friscoisd.org

My name is Tracee Wysinger and I am serving in the capacity of Assistant Principal at Trent Middle School. Prior to coming to Trent Middle School, I have worked in several capacities in the field of education and I have been in this field for many years. Before becoming an administrator, I taught science - 8th grade science, Biology and Integrated Physics and Chemistry. I received both my bachelor's and master’s degrees from Prairie View A&M University. In my leisure time, I enjoy spending time with my family, reading and traveling. My favorite educational quote is a from a Chinese Proverb, “Tell me and I’ll forget; Show me and I may remember; Involve me and I’ll understand.” This stems from my educational philosophy that learning is an active process and students should always be actively engaged. It is my honor and pleasure to be a part of the Trent Wolf Pack.
