FISD Students Advance to Texas National Geographic State Bee

Mar 04, 2015

Sean Ding, an eighth grader at Pioneer Heritage Middle School, and Saketh Sarvepalli, a seventh grader at Vandeventer Middle School, have been notified by the National Geographic Society that they are one of the semifinalists eligible to compete in the 2015 Texas National Geographic State Bee, sponsored by Google and Plum Creek. The contest will be held Friday, March 27 in Bedford.

This is the second level of the National Geographic Bee competition, which is now in its 27th year. The contest is designed to spark student interest in geography and increase public awareness about geography nationwide.

School bees were held in schools with fourth- through eighth-grade students throughout the state to determine each school champion. School champions then took a qualifying test, which they submitted to the National Geographic Society. Up to 100 of the top scorers in each state or territory then take part in the state-level Bees.

Frisco ISD is thrilled to have both Sean and Saketh represent the District at the state level in this competition.
