Graphic Design Students Wins North Texas Cookbook Design Contest

Nov 12, 2015

NTX KTK 2015 Winner

Frisco ISD Career & Technical Education student, Rachel Goodman, won a design contest sponsored by Medical City Children’s Hospital for the cover of this year’s kids teaching kids cookbook. As a result, the CTE Center won $1,000 to go toward its graphic design program. Rachel is an Advanced graphic design and illustration student in Mrs. Bacon's program.

The book will be published in December and then distributed to more than 120,000 north Texas students from eight different districts.  The hope of the cookbook is that is will help change children's snacking habits to include more fruits and vegetables.

The Kids Teaching Kids program
started in Frisco ISD in Spring 2010.  The CTE Center was the first school in the area to publish and distribute a
Kids Teaching Kids cookbook, which features healthy snack recipes for kids made by kids. The recipes are created by culinary arts students, with the overall look and layout of the cookbook designed by a graphic design and illustration student.
