CTEC Mock TEAM 2016

The 2015-16 CTE Center Mock Trial team competed in the 37th Annual State High School Mock Trial Championships on March 4-5th. This year marked the first time a school from FISD competed in the tournament. The CTE team has students representing Frisco, Centennial, Wakeland, Liberty, and Lone Star on the team this year. The team finished the tournament with a 2-2 record including a loss to the eventual state champion Creekview. The CTE team notched wins over W.B. Ray from Corpus Christi, and Monsignor Kelly from Beaumont with two very close losses to Prestonwood and Creekview.

The team, led by senior attorneys Toni DeGraff and Bailey Stone, finished the competition season with an overall record of 7-2. DeGraff, Stone, and junior Hailey Moore all earned best advocate ballots during at least one round, and Sophomore Rohit Bolla earned multiple best witness ballots during the competition. The record also included the teams first ever 5-0 sweep through regionals, which saw them the number one seed going into the Region X regional finals. The team returns 8 members next year with an eye towards a repeat trip to state and a place in the semifinal and final rounds.

Open try-outs to round out the team will be held in September of the 2016-17 school year. The team is coached by Mr. Ben Ewald and Mr. Ernest Leonard.
