Texas ProStart is an amazing way for management and culinary students to earn scholarships. Texas ProStart prepares students for careers in the restaurant and foodservice industry. Students gain valuable skills through their academic experience.

ProStart Culinary offers a competition similar to the show Chopped (featured on the Food Network) with the exception that the students have one hour to create two identical appetizers, entrees, and desserts, using only two butane burners.

ProStart Management is a concept competition where the students create a restaurant, including the menu and floorplan, and they have to verbally present their concept in front of a panel of 15 judges.

Each year, one culinary and one management team from the Frisco ISD CTE Centerculinary arts program goes head to head with schools ranging from Van Alstyne and extends to Fort Worth to vie for the coveted six spots which move on to the State level competition.

Over the past eight years, CTEC has always placed in the top six but never earned first place until this Saturday, January 28, where the competition was held in none other than its home town.  Competition took place at Collin College and Frisco CTE Center culinary students earned that top spot, 1st place (photo shown at top). Management took 2nd place (photo shown right).

Frisco ISD CTEC culinary arts and management students will attend the State competition March 24 and 25 in San Antonio, Texas.
