CTE Students Accept Culinary Challenge from Army National Guard

Feb 16, 2017

Culinary students from the Frisco ISD Career and Technical Education got a small glimpse into the sacrifices made by members of the military, as they worked to transform operational rations into a meal.

Teams of students were randomly given a military Meal, Ready-to-Eat, or MRE, and tasked with using spices, other ingredients and their own skills to make a meal in less than an hour, complete with a drink and dessert.

The Texas Army National Guard brings the challenge to schools across the state to test students’ communication, time-management and problem-solving skills. It’s also a great team-building exercise that shows students what it's like to work under pressure.
