What are school-wide expectations?
Schoolwide expectations represent the social, emotional, and behavioral skills we want to see from everyone in the building, including both students and staff. Rather than focusing on what NOT to do, these expectations establish how TO do school in every classroom and common space. Check out our Rogers Elementary school-wide expectations below!
Rogers Elementary Student Expectations:
Take Care of Yourself.
Take Care of Others.
Take Care of this Place.
Rogers Common Spaces Expectations:
At Rogers Elementary we honor taking care of yourself, others and this place. In all of our common areas, we honor those expectations with clarifying visuals and posters. These posters are hung up for teachers and students to review as needed throughout each school day. Below you will may access each of the posters for the hallway, cafe, playground, restrooms, assemblies, library, music, art, and gym.

Rogers Hallway Procedure - HEAT:
At Rogers we have HEAT.
Hands are down.
Eyes are forward.
All voices off.
Taking it slow.
How do students know about school-wide expectations?
We teach them! We will focus on learning and supporting these expectations throughout the year, and our parents will receive updates on school-wide expectations throughout the year in our campus newsletter, The Rogers Reminders.
Additionally, signage around our school reminds students how school-wide expectations apply in different settings.
Positive Behavior Interventions & Supports (PBIS) at Rogers:
You may hear your child's teacher refer to our PBIS structures at Rogers Elementary. PBIS is a schoolwide systems approach aimed at establishing positive student culture and individualized behavior supports necessary to create a safe and effective learning environment for all students (Sugai & Horner, 2009). By honoring these campus-wide expectations and procedures, students uphold high standards for our learning environment.
Ways You Can Support Our School's Success with PBIS:
By using common language at home with your child, you can reinforce our desired expectations at Rogers Elementary. When referring to your own family's expectations in the home, you can connect that task or responsibility to a Rogers Elementary expectation. For example, your child picks up their dirty laundry and takes it to their laundry basket on their own; you could praise them for "taking care of this place (aka your home). Another example may be your child offers to finish cleaning the dishes after dinner, that would be "taking care of others" as an act of service/kindness.
All About the PBIS School Store at Rogers:
When students exhibit excellence in our common spaces at Rogers Elementary, teachers recognize those efforts to take care of yourself, take care of others and take care of this place. Students have the opportunity to earn DoJo points which is a token economy system for every student. Students save up their points to go shopping on a monthly basis at the school store. The more a student exhibits desired behaviors, the more points they earn. Our school store is generously funded through community donations and campus funds. If you are interested in donating to the Rogers PBIS Store, please visit https://bit.ly/RogersWishList. We still need donations to ensure we are fully stocked for the 24-25 school year. Every donation helps!
