United States Academic Pentathlon® is a five-event scholastic competition for middle school students, providing the benefits of Academic Decathlon® along with the challenges of rigorous team and individual competition. The five events include: Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, Fine Arts, and Social Science.

The National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) looks for students who show outstanding qualities in scholarship, character, citizenship, leadership, and service. Applications are available in the Spring.

Vandeventer Middle School has numerous non-curricular clubs available for students to join. Students should look for club information on posters distributed throughout the building. Club members may advertise and recruit peers via student created posters, word-of-mouth, and student announcements. 

Student Council, (STUCO)  is an organization that has elected student officers and serves the student body. During the year STUCO sponsors projects that benefit the community and Vandeventer Middle School.  STUCO is open to all 6th,7th, and 8th grade students.

Meetings will be held on Tuesday morning and after school during tutorials.

The International Thespian Society, a division of the Educational Theatre Association, is the honorary theatre organization for students in high school and middle school. The ITS offers everything from varied performance venues to college audition opportunities to formal awards and scholarships. Since 1929, more than two million students, schools, and educators have benefited from ITS membership.
