Wester Middle School participates in the National Geographic Geography Bee each year.  This is open to all three grade levels.  Students take a preliminary test, using questions provided by National Geographic.  These questions range from naming countries and states with only physical, historical or cultural clues, to identifying countries, with only clues dealing with current events.  The top ten students participate in our campus final round held in January.  The champion then takes an online test to qualify for the state round, which is held later in the spring.  Students advancing to the national round in Washington, D.C. have the potential to win scholarships.
