theatre education

For the third consecutive year, Frisco ISD has been named a Premier Community for Theatre Education.

FISD is one of only 10 districts across Texas to earn the honor from the Texas Thespians recognizing exceptional school theater programs. The district has earned the distinction all three years it has existed.

To qualify, the District provided details about curriculum, scheduling standards, class sizes, facilities, theater safety, technical equipment, troupe involvement and more.

More than 3,500 secondary students in Frisco ISD take theater classes, in a testament to the District’s student opportunity model that facilitates expanded access to fine arts programming.

Research on theater education has continued to show a number of educational and social benefits, including teaching teamwork skills, how to give and receive constructive criticism, problem-solving, trust, cooperation and collaboration.

“I’m exceptionally proud of the staff and students of our Frisco ISD theater departments, and thankful for the support of administrators who act as their advocates and cheerleaders,” said Cade Butler, fine arts coordinator for Frisco ISD. “This is a testament to all the students who have enrolled in theater classes, worked on theatrical productions and developed skills that will make them better community members in Frisco and beyond.”

Congratulations to the theater directors and students of Frisco ISD on this recognition!
