Students, parents and staff were surveyed about the 2023-24 school year in March.

or the second year in a row, Frisco ISD and K12 Insight partnered to survey parents, staff members and students in grades 4-12 for feedback on the school and district.

The survey topics included Teaching and Learning; Student Support and Relationships; Emotional and Social Support; Safety, Security and Behavior; Interactions with School Staff; School Leadership, Culture and Environment; Family Involvement; and Future-Ready Learner.

K12 Insight presented the results to campus principals and the Board of Trustees this month. Campuses, District leadership and Trustees use survey data to guide campus-based and district priorities

The survey results provided valuable insights into perceptions and an opportunity to identify trends between the 2022-23 and 2023-24 school years.

Feedback Worth Celebrating

Overall District Quality: Staff members and parents gave high ratings for overall district quality, with 92% and 89%, respectively.

Quality of Education: 94% of campus-based staff members rated the quality of education as Excellent or Good, followed by parents and elementary students (both 87%) and secondary students (84%).

  • The Frisco ISD school quality ratings are higher than last year and above the national average of 84% for staff and parents and 70% for secondary students. 

Teaching and Learning: 91% of staff members, 82% of secondary students and 80% of participating parents said that teachers set high expectations for students.

Teaching and Learning: 84% of campus-based staff said teachers successfully show students how lessons relate to life outside of school. Student perception on this topic increased by 3% from last year although it continues to be an opportunity for improvement.

Student Support and Relationships: 98% of staff, 85% of parents and 82% of secondary students agreed that there is a staff member that students can go to for help with a school problem.

Safety, Security and Student Behavior: 96% of staff members, 92% of parents and 82% of secondary students said their school is safe, while 79% of elementary students said they feel safe at school.

Culture and Environment: There was high agreement between parents and students that teachers and staff create a welcoming environment for students.

Family Involvement: Parents and staff agree that their school is welcoming to all families and that there is a climate of mutual respect between the school and families. 

Future-Ready Learner: A strong majority of parents and secondary students said students are challenged and supported in their ability to show compassion and respect toward others (89% and 85%, respectively) and to effectively communicate with others (84% and 83%, respectively).

Employee Experience: 92% of participating staff members said they enjoy being part of Frisco ISD.

Opportunities for Improvement

Teaching and Learning: 89% of campus-based staff members said teachers give helpful feedback, but 72% of secondary students said the same.

Safety, Security and Student Behavior: 91% of participating campus-based staff said staff is responsive to bullying, compared to 64% of secondary students and 62% of parents. (27% of parents said they did not know.)

Family Involvement: 73% of parents said the school provides opportunities for its community to provide input on improving the school environment.

FISD routinely surveys students, parents and staff, and the District regularly uses a third party to administer surveys. 

By the numbers: 8,623 parents, 2,685 staff and 27,872 students participated in the survey.
